CPPS-BC Young Malaysian Forum

The Future of Malaysia – POLITICS, PHILOSOPHY & ECONOMICS

“Changing Landscapes in Nation-Building Efforts”

27th November 2008 // Bar Council Auditorium, Kuala Lumpur

We are pleased to inform you that the Centre for Public Policy Studies, ASLI (CPPS) and the Bar Council (through its National Young Lawyers Committee) (BC) will jointly organise the CPPS-BC Young Malaysians Young Malaysians Forum on 27th October 2008 at the Bar Council, Kuala Lumpur.

The Forum is the succession of the very well received Young Malaysians Roundtable Discussion on National Unity that was held in 2007, at which HRH Raja Nazrin Shah, Crown Prince of Perak gave the keynote address.

In light of the prominent positions young Malaysians are already taking in the public sphere, be it in the political, economic or social realms, the purpose of the Forum is to further engage young Malaysians on their role in shaping the direction and future of the country, within its multi-ethnic and multi-religious settings. Sessions will include discussions on issues such as political trends and future direction, Malaysia’s role in the global economic climate as well as the Young Malaysian’s role in Nation-Building.

This year’s Forum will specifically focus on providing a platform for active dialogue on fundamental issues affecting our country. These include the present domestic political state, the global economic crisis and the challenges facing Malaysia as well as the philosophical mindset that shapes the present and future generations of Malaysians. We are hopeful that participants will leave this forum with a more thorough understanding of the views and responses of Young Malaysians on the challenges and trends facing our country and their perceptions on strengthening the fabric of our society and position in the world. The forum will then present a final document, collating views and recommendations made by the young participants, in setting a charter for the future of Malaysia.
